There’s Cindy Crawford and her signature mole, Jennifer Lopez and her famous booty, and Dennis Rodman with his crazy, colorful hair. Now there’s a new fashion player in town with his own salable signature: New Orleans Pelican Anthony Davis and his unapologetic unibrow.
The NBA player’s connected brows have become so much a part of his personal brand that he’s even trademarked the phrases, “Fear the Brow” and “Raise the Brow.”
But when it comes to maintaining his famous arch, he’s hands-off.
“I do nothing to them. I don’t touch it,” he tells Pret-a-Reporter. “Last time I tried it, it got out of hand so I just leave it alone. Whatever happens, happens.”
The natural state of his brows have not only earned him cheers during NBA games, but also a new fashion collaboration.
The 23-year-old Chicago native has teamed with Saks Fifth Avenue on a 11-piece capsule collection, dubbed Saks Fifth Avenue x Anthony Davis, marking the first time the department store’s private label has partnered with an athlete on a fashion collection. Priced between $58 to $188, the athleisure range includes a bomber jacket, neoprene shorts, graphic tees and black joggers.
Davis agreed to design the collection after “not being able to find clothes” for himself. He stands at 6-foot-10, after all.
“[I wanted] to create something where it’s my own and I know I could fit,” Davis, clad in his designs, tells Pret-a-Reporter on Tuesday night at Saks Fifth Avenue’s Beverly Hills location. The evening was followed a cocktail party celebrating his collection. “I’m going to be able to rock my own gear at NBA games now.”

Tom Ott, senior vp GMM of menswear at Saks Fifth Avenue, adds that the collection is “definitely for a guy who’s interested in a little bit more relaxed kind of fashion but at the same time very high quality.”
Though Davis says his interest in fashion started in high school (“you know the first day of school, you have to look nice,” he says), it didn’t really become important until he joined the NBA.
“You walk around and you see guys in a lot of different brands — it’s all about fashion,” the power forward says with a laugh, citing his good friend, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook, as having a “dope” style. (Westbrook has a co-branding deal with Barneys New York, his own fragrance and a couple of other collabs in the fashion space.) “You have to get on board quick. You want to be able to look nice. Now I look at people’s clothes and I’m like, ‘I like that guy’s pants,’ and think how I can transform that into something that I’d wear.”
Davis’ first fashion collection is just the latest among his string of accomplishments. A three-time NBA All-star, Davis was selected first overall in the 2012 NBA draft by New Orleans. He also earned a gold medial at the 2012 Summer Olympics, playing with Team USA.
The Saks Fifth Avenue x Anthony Davis collection is now available in 23 Saks store locations — a nod to Davis’ jersey number — and online.
