Diana Ossana has signed on to write the screen adaptation of Stuart and Shelby Stout’s Hope’s Wish for Fixed Point Films and Shining Star Prods.
The book is the life story of the Stouts’ daughter Hope, who was diagnosed with a life threatening illness at the age of 12.
Ossana, an Oscar winner for the Brokeback Mountain screenplay which she wrote with Larry McMurtry, will also produce along with Fixed Point’s Jonah Hirsch. Exec producers are McMurtry, Shining Stars’ Stuart Stout, Bert Hesse and Stephen Bridgewater.
“Hope’s Wish reminded me of the innocence of children and their refusal to accept the limits of what adults consider might be possible. I feel privileged to be a part of bringing Hope’s inspirational story to film,” Ossana said.
Fixed Pont, an L.A.-based indie production company, has credits that include Main Street, starring Colin Firth, Orlando Bloom and Ellen Burstyn, and Passion Play, starring Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox and Bill Murray.
The project has the cooperation of the March Forth with Hope Foundation, the charitable organization set up by the Stout family, and also the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Ossana and McMurty are represented by Anonymous Content, UTA and Greg Redlitz and Robert Thorne.
