Nia Vardalos has signed with APA, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The actress and writer broke out with her 2002 sleeper hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding, a $5 million romantic comedy that went on to gross $241 million in the U.S., a real-life Cinderella story for indie cinema. Vardalos was nominated for a screenwriting Oscar and acting Golden Globe for her work on the film, in addition to winning an Independent Spirit Award for best debut performance. She is now in pre-production on a sequel, in which she is adding executive producer duties and reuniting with original producers Playtone, HBO and Gold Circle and co-star John Corbett.

Vardalos’ other acting and writing feature credits include Larry Crowne, My Life in Ruins and Connie and Carla. She has recently recurred as a defense attorney on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and guest starred on Grey’s Anatomy, Cougar Town and Curb Your Enthusiasm. She will be part of the voice cast of Disney XD’s upcoming series Star vs. the Forces of Evil.
Last year Vardalos published the New York Times bestselling memoir Instant Mom, about the process of adopting her daughter from the foster care system. This summer she starred as Jenny in a Toronto production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company.
At APA, Vardalos joins husband Ian Gomez (Cougar Town), who signed with the agency last year. She was previously with the soon-to-be-closed Resolution, but continues to be repped by Untitled and Del Shaw.
