Family Dollar fully integrates into Dollar Tree

Howard R. LevineChesapeake, Va. – With the integration now complete of Family Dollar into its new parent, Dollar Tree, a new executive team of officers is taking charge of the company.

Howard R. Levine, formerly ceo of Family Dollar, is stepping down as an officer of the company.

Gary Philbin, who in July 2015 was named Family Dollar’s president and ceo, will continue leading Family Dollar and reporting to Sasser.

When Dollar Tree completed its acquisition of more than 8,200 Family Dollar stores across 46 states in July 2015, the company asked Levine to remain on board for a period to assist with the integration, reporting to Dollar Tree ceo Bob Sasser.

“Howard has completed everything I have asked of him during this process, and has proven to be a valuable resource to both Gary Philbin and me,” said Sasser.

Added Levine: “It has been an honor to serve Family Dollar over the past 25 years. I would like to share my gratitude to many thousands of current and former Family Dollar team members that have helped build Family Dollar into the business it is today, delivering terrific values to millions of customers on a daily basis.”

Levine’s father, Leon opened the first Family Dollar store in Charlotte in 1959, and since then the chain has expanded to more than 8,200 units across 46 states.

With its new fleet of Family Dollar stores, Dollar Tree operates more than 14,038 stores across 48 states and five Canadian provinces. Nameplates include Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree Canada and Deals.
