If you need a break from all the gray you see outside, then you need to take a trip to Bergen, Norway.

In particular, the historic district of Bryggen is one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen. The tall and slim wooden townhouses are painted in red, white and orange hues, which blend together like a sunset. Their reflection in the Vågen bay is particularly stunning to see at any time of day.

Oh, and we can't forget to mention the culture! Bryggen is known for its street art, and there are several museums you can visit to learn a bit more about the Hanseatic League. Plus, there's plenty of shopping to do as merchants of all kinds line the water.

Another fun fact for you to take on your trip? Bryggen inspired the city of Arendelle in Frozen. So you can imagine, this place is like walking through a real-life fairy tale.
