Location Demographics

As a fast-growing suburb, Traralgon’s demographics vary. Traralgon’s population of 25,485 is comprised of a variety of families, couples, singles and retirees. A majority of Traralgon’s adult residents work full-time, with the most common occupational types being professionals, technicians and administrative workers. Traralgon’s population is trending upwards as many local economic sectors such as energy and agriculture continue to expand.

Travel & Infrastructure

Whilst this suburb is a fruitful employment hub, employment in Melbourne is still a viable option for residents of the suburb. Whilst road transport is the primary means of travel for residents, public transport is also available. Residents working in Melbourne can utilise the Traralgon railway station to access the V/Line train service, which takes approximately an hour and a half to reach the Melbourne CBD. Local bus services are also available within Traralgon and the Latrobe Valley. Furthermore, Traralgon is located near the Latrobe Valley Airport.

Shopping options are abundant in this area. A variety of chain and local supermarkets are available to residents. Whilst there are many shops and retail outlets scattered around the suburb’s CBD, the main indoor shopping centre is Stockland Traralgon, which offers a wide variety of retail chain outlets, independent boutiques and an array of dining options.

Schools & Recreation

The areas surrounding Traralgon house a number of different schools. Local primary school options include Grey Street Primary School, Stockdale Road Primary School, St. Michael’s Primary School and Kosciuszko Street Primary School. Reputable secondary school options include Traralgon College and Lavalla Catholic College. Traralgon is also home to the Latrobe Special Development School, which specially caters for students with physical and/or intellectual disability. Other highly regarded schools in the Latrobe region include St. Paul’s Anglican Grammar School and Gippsland Grammar School. Tertiary education is also available to students as Traralgon is home to various TAFE providers and Federation University’s Gippsland Campus is only a 15-minute drive away.
