Azerbaijani junior badminton players recently participated in the Cyprus International 2023 in Nicosia. They won a total of 5 medals in the tournament, including 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
According to Idman.biz, Ali Gozalov won the gold medal in the individual competition for badminton players under the age of 15. He defeated opponents from Poland, Greece, and Cyprus in his category. Meanwhile, Leyla Jamalzade earned a silver medal in the same age group after advancing to the finals.
In the girls' doubles competition for U-15 players, the team of Leyla Jamalzade and Aysu Karimzade won second place. Additionally, Ali Gozalov and Aysu Karimzade received a bronze medal in the mixed doubles category.
Finally, Sarkhan Bagirov and Ali Gozalov placed third in the competition for under-17 badminton players.
It should be noted that Azerbaijani junior badminton players have also won medals in other international tournaments this year, including those held in Israel, Croatia, and Serbia.
