The system maker will continue to offer its current, well-known full-tower chassis, but will offer the new design as an option for those who want a smaller system in a sleeker case. Alienware has made the case available immediately for its Area-51 3500 and Aurora 3500 systems, while its Area-51 4500, 5500, 7500 and Aurora 5500 and 7500 systems will get the option in the near future.
The case features a locking door that folds neatly to its side, numerous front-access ports for a microphone, headphones and connectors for FireWire and USB peripherals. The case is also acoustically dampened to cut down on system noise and it designed to help prevent overly hot system temperatures with a specifically designed ventilation system.
"Alienware has always led the industry in providing customers with a wide range of options when building their custom computer systems," said Patrick Cooper, director of product management for Alienware. "While many people prefer the stylish, award-winning case designs of Alienware's gaming machines, there are other people that want more subdued, traditional case designs. Alienware is committed to providing both groups with the best custom PCs on the market."
