Edraianthus horvatii is a rare native to the Dinaric Alps, a breathtaking mountain range stretching across southeastern Europe. Within this rugged landscape, this perennial gem thrives in specific microhabitats. It is often found nestled among rocky outcrops, crevices, and scree slopes, where it can endure harsh environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and limited water availability.

Characterized by its love for high altitudes, Edraianthus horvatii can be observed at elevations ranging from 4,000 to 7,000 feet above sea level. Its natural habitat experiences a continental climate with cold, snowy winters and relatively mild summers.

The soil in its native habitat is typically rocky and well-draining, reflecting the limestone-rich geology of the Dinaric Alps. These conditions enable Edraianthus horvatii to form dense clumps of low-growing, evergreen foliage, creating a stunning contrast against the alpine backdrop.

This is a Holubec collection from 6,000’ in Macedonia.
