The next round of the Madrid ATP has been decided with Jannik Sinner entering the field against Pavel Kotov. After defeating Lorenzo Sonego, the South Tyrolean is preparing to take on the Russian for the third round. A victory would allow him to reach the round of 16, with the prize and points at stake beginning to get interesting. Precisely because of these points, Sinner could close the gap on Novak Djokovic, who has about a 1300 point lead over the San Candido tennis player. Pavel Kotov is a Russian tennis player born in Moscow on November 18, 1998, and is 26 years old. He took his first steps in the world of tennis in the Itf Junior Circuit, debuting in 2016 by participating in two Grand Slams. In 2019, he participated in the Challenger tournaments and played in two finals (Tali Open, Castilla Open) which he lost. In 2020, he won his first Challenger title, while in 2021, he regularly participated in ATP tournaments. In 2022, he won the Forlì III and entered the top 200 tennis players in the world. In 2023, he lost in the final at the Braunschweig Open against Franco Agamenone. Pavel Kotov is currently ranked No. 72 in the ATP rankings. His highest ranking was achieved on January 29, 2024, when he reached the 61st position. His favorite shot is the forehand, and his preferred surface is hard court. His playing style is similar to that of Sinner, consisting of powerful shots from the back of the court. The match between Sinner and Kotov has been scheduled for tomorrow in the early afternoon, barring delays caused by other matches.
