Just before they went on their Easter break, the pupils at Monaseed and Craanford National Schools took in the delights of Knocknagapple Woods in Monaseed as they went on their annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The fun event was initiated around six years ago by local woman Anne Sheeran who wanted everyone to enjoy Knocknagapple Woods as much as she does. 'It's a lovely, lovely walk,' she said, 'it's better than anywhere in the west of Ireland.'

Staff at both schools helped run this year's event, and hid the eggs among the trees for the children to seek out and discover.

'The kids love it,' said Anne. 'We had a large crowd of children this year. It helps encourage them to go for walks in Knocknagapple Woods, and I'm delighted it's so popular now.'
