Church news

Mass on Wednesday morning at 9.30 a.m which will be followed by Adoration from 10 a.m until 1 p.m. Adoration also takes place on Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m.

Harvest Thanksgiving takes place on Saturday and Sunday of this week, October 14th and 15th.

Meetings on Lay Ministry are being held for parishioners in the Diocese. The meeting for Crossabeg/Ballymurn Parish will take place this Thursday, October 12th in The Pugin Room (access through main tower) St. Peter’s College. All are welcome.

Public ministry

Congratulations to Victoria Hawkins, Crory, Crossabeg, who has been commissioned to carry out public ministry in the Church of Ireland Ministry. We wish her well for the future.

Clothes collection

Crossabeg Parents Association are organising a Clothes collection. Keep them in mind when you are clearing out wardrobes. The date is Saturday, November 4th.

This is a great way to do a spring clean and a great little fundraiser for the school.They will accept clothes, shoes, belts, bags, towels, blankets, curtains and soft toys. Drop off times will be announced closer to the day.

Dinner dance

Crossabeg AFC are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and to celebrate the event are holding a dinner dance at Ferrycarrig hotel. The date is set for Sunday October 29th, so keep that date free.

Hospice Coffee Morning

The organisers of the recent Hospice Coffee morning held at Kyle Forge wish to thank each and everyone who helped with the success of the event. Thanks to all who helped out, provided refreshments and generosity with funds. The total amount realised was €1330.

Squash Club Split The Pot

Cuidiú Breast Feeding

Help Wanted

Church News

Memory Walk on 2nd November Candles are now available for the Feast of all Souls on the 2nd of November for our Memory Walk in Kilmore to the Graveyard in candlelight. Our Short Service of Remembrance will take place in the Church in Kilmore at 7pm and then everyone will be invited to walk to the Graveyard in candlelight and place your memory candles on your loved one’s graves. Candles are available at the top of the church every day costing only €2 euro each.

Manifest art exhibition

‘Manifest’ is a solo exhibition by Kilmore-born artist Trisha O’Callaghan at Big Barn Arts and Antiques to coincide with the National Opera Festival. Her extensive collection of paintings will be officially opened by international artist and prolific sculptor Helen Merrigan Colfer this Sunday October8th from 3-5pm. All are welcome.

The exhibition is open October 7th/8th 12- 5pm, October 14th/15th 12- 5pm, and October 21st November 3rd 1-5pm daily. Meet the artist on October 15th, 12-5pm

Nature walk next Saturday

Members of the Tomhaggard Clean Coasts Group are participating in a nature walk with naturalist Jim Hurley along the seashore from Kilmore Quay to St Patrick’s Bridge. Non members of the Group are very welcome to join the event. Meet at the entrance gate to the marina on the roundabout in Kilmore Quay at 10.30am on Saturday 14 October. Sensible footwear recommended

Declan Flynn Fitness

New to Kilmore, Declan Flynn Fitness, is bringing a new energy to the village with bootcamp sessions in our community hall, commencing on Oct 21st.

These will be sessions open to all over 18 and will be a great way to get ahead of your fitness goals, maybe even lose your first 5 lbs before the Christmas season.

Sessions will be at 7.30am, so these will be a great way to start off your Saturday mornings.

Active Retirement

Kilmore ARA held its October meeting on Thursday, October 5, in the AOH hall, Bridgetown with the chairperson Tom Gettings presiding.

Items covered were thanks to Tomhaggard Women’s Shed for the Avondale trip on Saturday, September 30. There will be a guided walking tour of Wexford town on Tuesday, October 10, at 11 a.m., meeting in Kilmore car park at 10 a.m. This will be followed by lunch in Whitford House Hotel at 1.30 p.m. Members wishing to take part must book immediately with Margaret at 086 3098637. Our Christmas lunch will be held in the Riverside hotel, Wexford on Wednesday, December 13, at 1.30 p.m.

The meeting appealed for new members to take part in indoor bowling which takes place on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Stella Maris Centre. Reminder of a five-week social dancing event commencing on October 20 in Tomhaggard Social Centre from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Next meeting will be on Thursday, November 2, at 2.30 in Quigley’s of Kilmore with tea and scones served and maybe 20 questions. Upcoming events to be arranged, Enniscorthy 1798 centre, the New Ross famine ship and a St Mullins walk.
