SIC

International Quotations System

The International Quotations System (SIC) is a platform that allows investing in stocks and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) whose securities were listed in other parts of the world.

In recent years, the SIC has been strengthened thanks to the New SIC Circular published in 2016 that sought to make the Global Market's operation more efficient and accessible. Indeval established a new Custody model operating with three Custodians that allowed boosting the SIC trend achieving savings to the market and operational efficiencies:

  • Citibank, N.A.: for U.S. and Canadian securities, offers withholding agent services, access to the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation "DTCC," the U.S. Securities Depository.
  • Euroclear Bank: securities for the rest of the world, including international debt, equities, and ETFs.
  • BNP Paribas Securities Services: U.S. debt traded on Euroclear and DTCC, also assumes the role of secondary provider for the U.S. and Canadian markets.
  • Indeval continues its commitment to lead initiatives that accelerate the development of the Mexican Stock Market:
  • The SIC now represents more than 50% of the volume traded daily on the BMV.
  • There is significant growth in the number of listed issuers, totaling more than 2,763 securities, mostly ETFs and shares of U.S. companies.
  • Total assets of foreign instruments under custody at Indeval on behalf of clients amount to USD 70.28 billion.
