A love triangle which began on Instagram allegedly led to the murder of a 20-year-old man in Delhi. According to police, a man named Mahir was stabbed by 18-year-old Arman Khan and his friends on December 27 over a woman whom both of them had befriended on the social media app, said police.

Video call to murder

A 21-year-old woman, whom the police have not yet identified, had befriended both men on Instagram. Mahir arrived at the woman's house one day and found her talking to Arman on a video call. This led to an altercation between the two men and Arman took away the woman's phone, forbidding her from talking to Mahir.

On December 27, Arman called Mahir to a lane in Bhagirathi Vihar on the pretext of returning the woman's phone. When Mahir arrived, Arman, along with two other accused -- Faisal Khan and Sameer -- stabbed him.

All three then left Mahir to bleed to death.

Police later received a call informing them about a man lying on a road at Bhagirathi Vihar with stab wounds. Upon arrival, police recovered a blood-stained knife from the crime scene.

Mahir's body was then shifted to the GTB hospital for an autopsy. Police learnt he used to work at a flex shop in Paharganj.

The three accused in the crime, Arman and his accomplices Faisal Khan (21) and Sameer (19), were arrested by the Delhi Police and its Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS).

According to the police, all three worked at different shops in Bhagirathi Vihar. Arman ran a general store, Faisal worked in a shop repairing LCD TVs and Sameer was a scrap dealer.

An FIR was filed at the Gukulpuri Police Station and the three face murder charges under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
