Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on April 20. From being good friends to vowing to be each other's life partner, the couple has come a long way. They are also proud parents to 11-year-old Aaradhya Bachchan. On the special day, the much-in-love couple shared a romantic picture on Instagram to wish each other.

AISHWARYA, ABHISHEK CELEBRATE 16TH ANNIVERSARY

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan shared an epic selfie on Instagram to mark their 16th wedding anniversary. In the cute photo, Abhishek is seen holding his wife Aishwarya close. The couple flash a smile for the camera. Sharing the post, Aishwarya wrote, "Sweet 16 (sic)," followed by heart emojis. Meanwhile, Abhishek wrote, "16 (sic)" with an evil eye emoticon.

AISHWARYA-ABHISHEK'S LOVE STORY

Abhishek and Aishwarya met for the first time in 1999 for a photoshoot of their first film together - Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke (which released in 2000). “It was our first film together, and I expected a diva. Instead, she was disarmingly wonderful,” Abhishek had said in an interview. The couple liked each other's company and remained friends after the film's release. Aishwarya and Abhishek did another film together in 2003 - Rohan Sippy's Kuch Naa Kaho. But they developed feelings for each other only in 2005 -2006, when they shot for Umrao Jaan.

In 2007, Abhishek went to shoot for a film. During his time in the Big Apple, Abhishek would think about being married to Aishwarya while sitting on the balcony of his hotel room. So, he decided to propose to Aishwarya on the same balcony.

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai got married in 2007 on April 20, according to Hindu rituals. The wedding took place at Amitabh Bachchan's residence Prateeksha in Juhu, Mumbai. They welcomed their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan on November 16, 2011.
