Jon Favreau Reunites With Jason Bateman & Seth Gordon For ‘Identity Thief’

Seth Gordon’s latest directorial effort, with “Horrible Bosses” cohort Jason Bateman and “Bridesmaids” scene-stealer Melissa McCarthy in the leads, has steadily been coming together in recent months. And now set to hit next summer, it seems as if “Identity Theft” will start rolling any day now.

Though don’t expect the casting to slow down on this one anytime soon, as Gordon and co. tend to fill out their casts with a few surprise supporting players, and this looks to be no exception. Variety reports that Jon Favreau is stepping back in front of the camera, taking a role in the film. If you haven’t been keeping up, “Identity Thief” follows a man whose identity is stolen by a woman, and it seems they are keeping further plot details close to the chest for the time being. Favreau, who previously hung out with Bateman on “Couples Retreat” and “The Break-Up,” will play his boss. Also joining the fold are the sister pair of “Footloose” thespians Maggie Elizabeth Jones and Mary-Charles Jones, who have been cast as Jason Bateman and Amanda Peet‘s daughters. We suppose that clears up the question mark over Peet’s role in the film.

It’ll be nice to see Favreau back in front of the camera, especially since he was one of the few highlights in “King of Kong” director Gordon’s first feature misfire “Four Christmases,” and this is all lining up with some promise. [Variety/Variety]
