Description:
The flat grain beetle is one of the smallest beetles commonly found in grain. It is flattened, oblong, reddishbrown, about 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) long, with antennae two-thirds as long as the body. A scavenger by nature, it does not attack whole grain but occurs in the dust resulting from attacks of other grain-eating insects. There are three species of this genus in Kansas.
