Practically every local in New York City has a pair of commuting sneakers that they slide on in place of heels when getting around. The tradition stands for a bevy of reasons, including efficiency and comfort. But on Thursday, Halle Berry said ease be damned, because the superstar stepped out in New York City in a pair of boots that were, in fact, not made for walking.

Berry posted an Instagram carousel containing three selfies. Two were close-up shots that showed off her wavy lob hairdo, a pair of Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses, and a chunky silver chain choker. Behind Berry was a large window that looked out over buildings and skyscrapers. The third slide captured the actress strutting across the street while looking back towards the camera causing her effortless curls to spin with her. She's wearing a long white tee and a pleated beige miniskirt which she paired with sleek and sexy black leather over-the-knee stiletto boots that certainly do not look equipped to deal with the NYC terrain, but beauty knows no pain, right?

A long pendant necklace, bracelet, and her shades accessorized the 'fit. "Girl + sunnies = bright !" Berry wrote alongside the collection of images.

The star recently opened up about aging and how she has come to terms with the notion, but that doesn't mean she's going down without a fight (i.e., she's not going to stop wearing ankle-breaking heels anytime soon). ”Let me tell you, I am aging," she said during an Instagram live last month. "But I’m going down fighting.”

“I’m going to accept that aging, I’m going to keep doing all my supplements,” she continued, referring to her partnership with probiotic brand Pendulum.

In a separate interview with Women's Health, Berry said that with age comes realizing your worth. “I'm my best self now,” she said. “I have the most to offer. I have zero blanks to give anymore. I'm solidly in my womanhood. I finally realize what I have to say is valuable, even if no one else agrees.”
