Two Middleburg High School students recently attended their prom in homemade finery made of duct tape, as part of a national scholarship competition.

Christian Brian Zaccheo and Da-Vi Jinda Em created the outfits for the 10th annual Stuck at Prom Contest, which challenges high school students to create their prom dresses and suits out of the more than 20 available colors and patterns, according to a news release.

The top winners of the contest, sponsored by the Duck brand of tape, win scholarship money. First place is $3,000 for each member of the winning couple and $3,000 for the school that hosted the winning couple, according to the release.

The entry deadline is June 7. A panel of judges will then select 10 couple finalists who will compete for the top scholarship prize during a five-week online voting period that begins June 18.
