WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) meteorologist Jesse Ritka announced on Sunday's newscast that she's leaving for a job at a station in Fargo, North Dakota.

She broke the news at the end of the 5 p.m. newscast with "a moving box forecast," thanking the audience for their viewership.

OnMilwaukee.com reported Sunday that Ritka is joining WDAY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Fargo. She said in a post later on social media that this was her last week at the Milwaukee station.

Ritka, who grew up in the Minneapolis area, worked as a meteorologist and reporter at KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, before joining WTMJ in 2011 as the station's weekend meteorologist. Fargo is just over the Minnesota border; Ritka and her husband's families still live in Minnesota.

Before Sunday's newscast was over, Ritka was fielding best-wishes messages from viewers on social media.
