Cascade Red Fox
Vulpes vulpes Cascadensis; Cascade Red Fox. This is a rare subspecies of the common Red Fox.
The Cascade subspecies typically lives at high elevation, and can run from the regular orange/red color to almost black - and anywhere in between.
This individual exhibits a beautiful silver coat, which is not unusual for this subspecies.
The red fox is the largest of the true foxes, as well as being the most geographically spread member of the Carnivora, being distributed across the entire northern hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to North Africa, Central America and the steppes of Asia.
