CAÑAVERAL DE LEÓN - RIBERA DE HINOJALES - Ventana del Visitante
Old cobbled paths between old trees and old stone walls. Stone and water. Meadows and riversides. Sun and shadow. Land and water animals, amphibians too. Birds large and small, modest or proud, silent or singing, travelling or sedentary. Cattle and crops. Reeds and wickers for baskets that are no longer made. Blue, yellow, pink, white flowers ... Mushrooms, lichens, moss. Insects... Biodiversity and culture of Sierra Morena, and specifically of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park.
This is what this almost 4km trail has to offer, so we suggest you travel to the Hinojales shore, where you will see birds, fish and various amphibians.
The Military Order of León, in charge of consolidating the Christian reconquest back in the 15th century, is at the origin of Cañaveral de León and its name, as well as that of Arroyomolinos. We suggest you visit this town and discover the curious lagoon that functions as a municipal swimming pool during the summer months.
