Water level tower at the Goitzsche
The landmark of the Goitzsche lake region floats on the Goitzsche lake and offers a perfect all-round view.
The 26-meter-high water level tower floats on the surface of Lake Goitzsee. It can only be reached via a pontoon bridge that rises as the water rises. Two counter-rotating spiral staircases allow access to and from the water level tower. The historical model for such double spiral staircases is the double helix staircase designed by Leonardo da Vinci in the 16th century in the famous royal castle of Chambord on the Loire River in France.
The level tower offers a perfect all-round view of Lake Goitzsee as well as the towns of Friedersdorf, Bitterfeld, Mühlbeck and Pouch, and even as far as Leipzig if the view is good.
