Rosie Geur en Manus Gein by Carl Hollander

Carl Hollander was a famous illustrator of children's books. Born in Amsterdam, Hollander earned the Esspo Price for his art academy graduation project. His first illustration assignments came from English publishers, but later on he was mostly associated with the publisher Ploegsma. He is best known for his illustrations of Astrid Lindgren's 'Pippi Langkous' books and books by Rutgers van der Loeff, Annie M.G. Schmidt and Paul Biegel. He illustrated for several magazines, dailies and comic magazines like Donald Duck and Pep. In 1970, he drew the comic 'Rosie Geur en Manus Gein' in Pep. In 1977 he was present on the backcover of Bobo with the pantomime humor strip 'Daantje Doedel'. Carl Hollander was also a teacher at the Rietveld Art Academy.
