Why You Should Be Living in Sandown, NH

Nov 16, 2018

Sandown NH is fitting for all stages of life. Here's why!

Why You Should Be Living in Sandown

Sandown may not have the hustle and bustle of major New Hampshire cities like Manchester and Portsmouth, but that’s exactly why it’s so appealing! This bedroom community thrives on its peaceful atmosphere and its tight-knit community; you won’t find a skyscraper for miles.

Sandown is a little town tucked away in the sleep woods of Rockingham County. As it continues to grow, we thought that we would investigate some of the reasons that people choose to live here, and what the town has to offer its loyal residents.

Location

Sandown is just close enough to major points of interest, but just far enough way to not be burdened by them. Located in the Southeastern part of Rockingham County, Sandown is:

  • Eight miles from the entrance to Route 495

  • Nine miles from the entrance to Route 93

  • 19 miles to Manchester Regional Airport

  • 42 miles north of Boston, MA

  • 33 miles south of Concord, NH

  • 20 miles from the Seacoast.

The town is also located near Routes 125, 28, and 111, providing you with convenient access to shopping and urban centers.

Recreation and Nature

Sandown features numerous recreational areas including the Roy L. Miller Recreational Facility, the Edward C. Garvey Recreation Facility, and Seeley Park & Beach. Parks like this host baseball fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, soccer fields, etc. In addition to these great parks, Sandown is also home to Phillips Pond, which has a public water access point for boats, kayaks, and canoes. Portions of the Rockingham Recreational Trail runs through the town as well, which offers open space for biking, snowmobiling, running, or simply enjoying an afternoon walk.

Great for Children

The parks and recreation division of Sandown features some amazing programs that are family-friendly and child-oriented. Kids and teens can join local organizations like the rec sports and the Sandown ski club. They also feature local children’s programs that teach children new skills like the cooking for kids' program and a babysitter course.

Great for Adults (and Seniors)

Sandown isn’t just a great place for kids to grow. It’s also great for adults! The town of Sandown offers adult programs such as ski club, and dance and yoga sessions to get residents active and social. Sandown recreation and the Vic Geary Senior Center also host a variety of activities like bus trips, bingo, knitting groups, card players group, and more!

Community Atmosphere

We at Lewis Builders Development employ or have family members who live in Sandown and they all say the same thing. ‘The best thing about living in Sandown is being part of this friendly community.’ With its small-town vibe and unique downtown businesses, Sandown may seem small but takes pride in its tight knit social circles and is extremely welcoming and friendly. It’s easy to get to know and get along with your neighbors, and Sandown residents really develop relationships that are long lasting.

At Lewis Builders, the health and safety of our customers and employees is our top priority. We have been closely monitoring COVID-19 (coronavirus). Lewis Builders has advised all employees that if they are experiencing any symptoms to remain home as a precaution so as not to infect co-workers or customers they may come in contact with, and to notify us if they have traveled to any areas of concern. We are currently maintaining normal operations and advise all to follow the most current guidance from the Center for Disease Control, as well as state and local agencies. As the spread of the coronavirus has evolved, our continued focus has been on the health and safety of our employees and our customers. Main Office: Our main office at 54 Sawyer Ave is currently open to the public at normal operating hours. Please check back often as this may change. Tenants and Rental Applicants: If we do need to schedule maintenance, our team may ask you questions such as whether or not you have tested positive for COVID-19, have been asked to voluntarily quarantine yourself or if you or anyone in your home is ill or has been within the last 14 days . We ask you to answer these questions honestly, so that employees can take the appropriate steps to protect themselves from infection if a home visit is required. We have also developed a new Virtual Resident Center where you can make payments, submit requests, or apply online. If you have any questions or concerns regarding rentals, feel free to contact us at 603-362-5333 or email rentals@lewisbuilders.com .
