We are pleased to present the AFA Strategic Plan 2024-2027 Towards the Golden Jubilee: Advancing the Accountancy Profession in ASEAN (the "Plan"). Building on the successful implementation of the AFA Strategic Plan 2020-2023 and the establishment of our new Vision and Mission, the Plan serves as a roadmap to grow capable, innovative, and resilient PAOs of the #ASEAN Member States, develop a relevant and reputable accountancy profession in ASEAN, and build a strong and more sustainable AFA. The priorities and key activities are anchored in our Vision and Mission, highlighting the importance of continuing our effort to lead in the advancement of the accountancy profession in ASEAN through capacity building, collaboration, and collective voice. As highlighted by President Professor Dr. Doan Xuan Tien, the Plan reflects our collective aspirations for AFA and the continuous advancement of the accountancy profession in ASEAN, as we embark on a journey towards our 50th anniversary in 2027. Announcement: Appointment of the New AFA Executive Director The ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) would like to announce the appointment of Mr. Edward Tanujaya, SE, Ak., MSc, CA, ACMA, CGMA as the new AFA Executive Director, effective 1 April 2024. Edward previously served as the Director of Member and Partner Service of the Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants, or Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia (IAI), bringing with him more than 20 years of experience in various roles in the industry and the profession. Edward is also a lecturer at the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia. As the Executive Director, Edward will consolidate and build on our progress in developing the accountancy profession in ASEAN. He will provide leadership for our initiatives to further facilitate collaboration between our member organisations, partners, and stakeholders in the accountancy profession. Announcement: Departure of the AFA Executive Director The ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) would like to announce the departure of AFA Executive Director, Mr. Aucky Pratama, effective 31 March 2024. Aucky has been an integral part of AFA for more than a decade. He has played a pivotal role in strengthening AFA’s position as the umbrella organisation for the Professional Accountancy Organisations of the ASEAN Member States and an important stakeholder in the global accountancy profession. Together with the AFA Council and Office Bearers, Aucky has successfully grown the Federation’s stature, membership, and influential role in facilitating collaboration among key stakeholders of the profession in the region. We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Tan Boen Eng of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA). Mr. Tan served as the President of AFA for the period 2000–2001. He will be remembered as a man of integrity and a great contributor to the accountancy profession in #ASEAN. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Tan's family and his loved ones. It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our esteemed past president, Mr Tan Boen Eng. Mr Tan served on the ISCA Council from 1983 to 2012, and was the President of ISCA from 1995 to 2008. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and leadership, which has contributed significantly to ISCA’s mission of advancing the accountancy profession for several decades. Our thoughts are with Mr Tan’s family and loved ones.

We are pleased to welcome a visit from Khampiew Thipphavongphanh (Vice President, LCPAA) and Khamsamai Boulom (Officer, Accounting Regulatory Department, Ministry of Finance of the Lao PDR) to the AFA Secretariat. As a regional organisation for the PAOs of the ASEAN Member States, AFA actively facilitates the sharing of best practices between our member organisations. As the permanent Secretariat of AFA and a fellow AFA member organisation, Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia shared some of its best practices in facilitating capacity building and CPD activities, as well as nurturing engagement with key stakeholders, including relevant regulators. Indonesian business sentiment is strong, with 77 percent of local businesses expecting their revenue to grow this year. This follows a similarly positive 2023, where 70 percent reported their revenue increased despite the impact of the pandemic. AFA and CPA Australia are proud to launch our joint report, Indonesia Business Sentiment 2023. In addition to the positive sentiment for revenue growth, the report also highlights Indonesian businesses' focus on improving innovation and technology, business efficiency, and cost management.
