Do you know about DBT's dark secret? It's the scary, jumbled mess of data models that are curiously connected and pointing every which way. It can lead to inaccurate "data-driven decisions," not to mention it's a waste of data engineers' time to try to improve the process. In short, it's a term we coined called DBT spaghetti 🍝. Read all about this data transformation dilemma here: https://lnkd.in/eDtdYXB3

We love making our users' lives easier. They want to be analyzing data, not setting up development infrastructure. Here's a great example: save time ✅ save money ✅ stop writing unnecessary code ✅ Win/win.

Teams using #DBT often end up with massive data warehouse bills. Why is this? Well, it's easy to just run a "full refresh" and walk away to grab some coffee or lunch. It's a lot harder to set up incremental processing and optimize your builds for the task at hand. And unless you have data engineers on your team, sometimes it's impossible to set up these optimizations to save time and money. Things are especially slow and unoptimized when you're testing your business logic rather than your data. In order to see if your business logic is working you can get away with using only a small subset of your overall data, and then when you've confirmed the logic is working, you can expand to use the entire dataset to make sure there are no outliers. This sounds great, but it's hard to set up without expensive engineers. Well, Pliable to the rescue. Introducing AUTOMATIC SOURCE TRUNCATION. Just tick this box while in draft mode and your source tables will automatically be limited to 1000 records, drastically speeding up your development time and saving on data warehouse costs. #dataengineering #analyticsengineering #nocodedata

TL;DR from our founder at Tableau Conference #data24: Don't get caught up with shiny features. Build a product that *actually solves the problems of your users.* 💯

My biggest takeaway from the Tableau conference #data24: Shiny objects are what sell (cool visualizations, AI, tips and tricks, etc). The majority of sessions were focused on shiny stuff. But nobody has that one set of pristine CSV files that fit perfectly into a BI tool or chat bot. So we have companies getting sucked in by the shiny objects and then getting slapped a few months later when they realize 80+% of the data team’s time is spent wrangling data instead of analyzing it. Dimensional modeling (and all the steps that help you get there, like schema unification, deduplication, merging datasets, etc) isn’t as sexy as that cool dashboard that uses your company’s color palette and an AI chatbot on top, but is absolutely essential in order to actually get to those shiny objects. At Pliable, we love helping analysts navigate the less-sexy parts of analytics with our drag-and-drop UI, intuitive version control, intelligent orchestration, and deep integration with DBT. And we’re here for you when it starts feeling impossible to get to those shiny objects that make your stakeholders happy.

Be sure to catch our founder Jason Raede and head of product TG Galido (both also certified data nerds) at the Tableau conference next week. We are showcasing a custom integration of Pliable x Tableau, including some no-code DBT functionality. 🙌🤓 #data24

Data nerds: who's gonna be at the Tableau Conference next week in San Diego? We'll be showing off our easy-to-use Tableau integration and starting to demo our big new product feature (*cough* no-code #DBT anyone)? DM me and let's get a drink!

🗣️🗣️ Is this you? Your data is trapped behind a wall of buzzwords and code, and you have no idea what it all means or how to access it. 💥 Here’s a snippet of a convo with our founders, Jason and Kait, about how data is inaccessible to 95% of the founders, CMOs, COOs, and every other non-technical decision maker at your company. Let’s change that. https://www.pliable.co/

Just say no to Excel! It's time to turn quarterly reporting into the daily knowledge businesses need to make better decisions. Let Pliable take you there.

It’s the end of another quarter. Who’s excited about jumping into Excel for the next few days to compile your quarterly reports??? Too many companies are “data driven” once a month or once a quarter. The rest of the time, decisions are made by gut and intuition. Imagine how much more efficiently companies could operate if they could react to things an hour or two after they happen, rather than waiting a few months! At Pliable, we’ve figured out how to give businesses of every size data capabilities previously only enjoyed by massive tech companies. So let’s replace manual quarterly reporting with automated daily reporting.
