Last week Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a workshop to review the Action Plan for the Diaspora Policy and we were honoured as Diaspora Connect to be the only real estate agent that was invited to attend, in recognition of the dedicated focus we have on serving the diaspora. We wrapped up the workshop to review the Action Plan and what we learnt is that effective engagement with the diaspora requires several parts of government: 👉 Ministry of Commerce to promote investment opportunities. 👉Ministry of Home Affairs to process national documents. 👉Ministry of Finance to develop fiscal policies and incentives to stimulate diaspora inflows. 👉Bank of Zambia to allow easy uptake of government securities. 👉Ministry of Local Govt & Lands to facilitate allocation of land. 👉 Smart Zambia to digitize manual processes. 👌 And Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate it all. As private sector we also have a role to play. We can make it easier for the diaspora to do business with us by digitizing ourselves. And we can migrate faster than government at a far lower cost.
