🌱 Many of New South Wales’ most beautiful Grevillea species are threatened by climate impacts, including fire and drought, and loss of habitat. To combat these threats, scientists from Botanic Gardens of Sydney ventured out across the state to collect and secure seeds, as part of the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water's Saving our Species program. From the North Coast and Tablelands, all the way down to the Southern Tablelands, scientists collected seeds from more than 400 plants from eight threatened Grevillea species to study and store at the Australian PlantBank. Storing seeds long-term not only provides a critical resource for research but offers an insurance policy if species or populations become extinct in the wild. 🌸 Species: 1. Grevillea caleyi 2. Grevillea guthrieana 3/4. Grevillea iaspicula 5/6. Grevillea mollis
