You know that feeling you get when you meet someone who really “gets” you? How it feels to be with people that you can truly be yourself with, that you don’t have to explain yourself to - that feel safe and don’t judge? Peer Support Groups are a proven method of providing not only this safe, supportive space, but also can assist in healing the mind, body, and soul. 💜💜 For years, I've been providing virtual small peer group experiences in a variety of ways for those living with chronic illness, rare disease, and/or disability. Last year, I started groups for College Students Living with Chronic Illness and have had the privilege of witnessing how transformational these groups can be. They truly exemplify the importance of such intimate relationships and warm my heart with the power of connection they provide each week! There's also something truly amazing about finding other professionals who are just as passionate about and believe in the power of peer support as much as I do!! I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be offering a New Virtual Peer Support Group through the Forum marketplace: Chronic Illness & Career Progress: Navigating the Workplace and Beyond: Empowering women with chronic illness for career growth, change, and/or transition. Many of you know me for my work with children, teens, and young adults. However, over the past year, I've been working with many women trying to figure out work and life while living with chronic illness. There are numerous challenges to dealing with illness in the workplace from accommodations, understanding their rights under the ADA (The Americans with Disabilities Act), lack of understanding about chronic illness, and, perhaps needing a more flexible work schedule, less work hours, work from home options, or transitioning to a new career or even not working at all. While peer groups won't solve or change the problem (or cure an illness), they do provide support and collaborative problem-solving assuring no one has to feel alone on this journey. I would be honored if you would share this with the professional women in your circle! Whether you realize it or not, statistically speaking, I promise you know someone trying to face these challenges, often on their own. The first group kicks off on Wednesday, February 14th!!
