Students across the district have access to a wide array of Career and Technical Education opportunities. Regardless of what students have planned for after high school, CTE programs provide students with the opportunity to explore potential career paths, earn certifications and more to prepare them for a competitive advantage after graduation.
Let's hear from Agriculture Science Teacher Gerald Hosler at McKay High School and a senior in the program about what makes CTE so special. ✨
Students in this program learn about plant science, animal science agricultural mechanics and agribusiness. 🌱
According to McKay High School Senior, Isaac Santiago, "Agriculture is what gave me a sense of belonging and a place I can call home. Not really just friends, more like a family."

What might happen???
-When you decrease the friction that impedes innovation & productivity in your organization?
Good things, for sure.
Let's do that together. Training? Facilitation? OD guidance? I've got your back.
I'm doing a lot of thinking about how we might truly untangle ourselves from the climate change mess that we've created as a species. It's what we call in the innovation space a "wicked problem." Not because of any theological evil, but because of its daunting complexity. One small part of the solution set will be great science education, and an increase in folks with some serious skills in environmental management, forestry practices, and disaster planning and mitigation. I happen to live just down the road from an educational institution that is well positioned to help in all three of these areas. Got someone who is ready to learn and act in this space? 🏆 Congratulations to the University of Zagreb🇭🇷 for winning the #MedFish4Ever award for #innovative practices in #fishing#technology 👏👏
Project “Assessment of the carbon footprint of the fishing fleet and application of #decarbonization measures”
📌How is the project impactful?
The most important findings of this project relate to decarbonization strategies for different vessel types (trawlers and purse seiners), by combining technical (alternative fuels or full electrification) and operative (speed optimization, hull maintenance optimization) measures.
In addition, the project offers an excellent example of how effective #cooperation between #fishers and #scientists can be to the advantage of both groups: scientists receive quality data directly from the source via the fishers, while fishers are able to influence future scientific research and development through their unique insights into the realities of fishing.

Watch the premiere of the Soil Food Web School’s first
ever mini-documentary on YouTube!
🌏From Desert to Abundance: Overcoming
Monoculture Challenges in a Changing Climate, gives
you a front-row view of the journey of a table-grape and
banana operation in Peru, to regenerative agriculture.
🍇🍌
💦In 2017, an El Niño event left the operation’s soils
flooded and yields jeopardized. The devastation led the
owners to the Soil Food Web Approach.
Witness this incredible success story and learn how
soil health and farming operations were improved,
achieving a reported 200% increase in yields over just
two growing seasons. Experience this transition from
conventional, chemical farming practices to
regenerative agriculture, through the use of biologically
focused compost, compost extract and teas, cover
crops, animal husbandry, and more.
Earlier this week, we premiered the
mini-documentary followed by an audience Q&A with
Roberto Silva-Rodriguez; Miles Sorel; the filmmaker,
Ashley Terry; and Dr. Elaine Ingham. The panelists
provided deeper insights into this success story and
shared their experiences documenting this engaging
story.
