We need to start viewing the role of social media manager as something more akin to that of a creative director. They should be overseeing a team and guiding the creation of content--not doing it all by themselves. The days of the solo social media manager need to come to an end. One person can't expected to be a photographer, graphic designer, videographer, strategist, copywriter, and also understand the nuances of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn...and do all of it well. #SocialMediaManager #SocialMediaMarketing #Marketing

Blown away by this new campaign from Dove, highlighting the negative effect of social media on young people’s self-image. The film is incredibly powerful and somewhat distressing, detailing one young girl’s battle with an eating disorder. It also ties back to its almost 20 year ‘Real Beauty’ platform, which seeks to raise the self esteem of women and young girls. Plus there is action behind the words: a call for platforms to make these spaces more “positive” via safer design and the campaign includes partnerships with non-profit organisations Common Sense Media and ParentsTogether Action to try advance the 2023 Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). You know that one tip or trick that you’re most proud of? That once piece of strategy that unlocks real value? That one “golden nugget” that you have… TELL PEOPLE. If you are on Furlough leave, you are lucky, you have a job to go back to and a company that thinks you are worth keeping. Please spare a thought for the ones in your company who are holding the fort, be it your colleagues or your boss. Spare a thought for your MD's who still have to pay your wages this month - then they claim it back, they still have to find the money in the first place. They will have invested their lives, their houses and more time than you'll ever know into their company, and now they continue to work to keep it going whilst we sit at home. We know the rules of furlough leave and it is there to stop people cheating the system, however, if your colleagues call or email and ask for a little help think about what they have on their plate, be helpful, be kind. They are the ones holding your future in their hands.
