Today's post runs the risk of upsetting all you nose-to-the-grindstone types who think that the only way to be successful is to work 24/7/365. It's not lazy to be efficient. It's not lazy to work smarter, rather than harder. It's not lazy to do the things that you do best, and give all your other work to people who are best at doing that sort of work. If "hours worked" is your metric of effort, then you are treating yourself like an hourly employee. A far better metric is the results you generate. Many of the most miraculous inventions of the human race came from someone who took the time to daydream for hours at a time. Find ways to exert less effort and get better results.
Love this picture Bruce! Effortless action...
Awesome post, Bruce! Love the pic too!!
We're syncing on our content themes today, Bruce. (Shocking, I know!)
Well said Bruce!
Love the message! (But also- vampire raccoon?)
I think the idea from Management is work smarter - ALL THE TIME. They burn people out this way.... and now we have AI and machines working in the gaps. Never underestimate the power of greed. 😉
Couldn’t agree more with the theme of this post. Have seen it too often where people work 24/7/365. They lose perspective about their jobs, their homes and their families. In those environments big things look small and small things look big. The work environment then becomes toxic with stress, anxiety and loss of morale. How can that be productive?
This is up there with the "comfort zone" trope for me. Do that one next! 😀

1yAbsolutely Bruce - when I started my career, it was typically all about the hours put in, then I thankfully learned that it was the output which was the important part. A message that I share with all my teams too. Love the picture - it might go up alongside my other office poster which has wise words along the lines of "Be generous and expert, trustworthy and clear ..." - sounds familiar?
