Latest properly conducted opinion poll: Do Welsh voters support or oppose the new 20mph speed limit on roads where cars mix with pedestrians and cyclists? (16-17 September) Support 46% Oppose 34% This goes to show that petitions and social media comments are not representative. Properly conducted opinion polls are based on a 'representative sample' which is designed to get a genuine cross-section of opinion. Here's a good impartial explanation of how they work: https://lnkd.in/eDeZi34H

The frustration that is being demonstrated by the Welsh public is something we in the Tourism sector have been experiencing for the last 4years. It is important and democratic for individuals from Wales to share their perspectives, as it provides valuable insights for decision-makers. 300k and growing is worth considering that your policymaking involves striking a delicate balance between various factors, including safety and efficiency, it is essential to approach this opposition with fairness and open-mindedness. Constructive dialogue can play a major role in refining and amending policies. Instead of dismissing these concerns outright as the FM did yesterday. No one has an issue with 20mph, schools and residential areas, something we’ve become use to but I think this policy in allowing LAs to blanket change the speed limit is asking for trouble as you will see!

Hardly a ringing endorsement for change. Rushed implementation prior to substantive research into how to deal with anomalies was bound to result in confusion and wonderment at why now! Especially when most agree with enforcement of 20 near schools. Rod King MBE should be asked to comment on the more than 300,000 "detractors"! Is it really acceptable nowadays to refer to those who have valid concerns over implementation of a poorly thought through policy (regardless of good intentions) as detractors - surely these are committed and engaged citizens who should be treated with respect not ridiculed! On a more general point the publication of the above opinion poll stirs deep personal concerns. The right to a secret vote at the ballot box is a cornerstone of our democracy. Politicians would be better advised to protect and enhance this basic right and not be concerned about which political party any one of us has voted for. Once elected you are entrusted serve without prejudice or favour. I suspect if ministers had sufficient courage to carry out opinion poll study regarding the proposal to increase the number of MS members it would be a stark wake up call that trust in political party's and their machinery is at an all time low.

Lee Waters MS will you be running an opinion poll regarding the M4 relief road ? I travel to and from work weekly to London and its honesty getting worse. For what its worth I tend to agree with slower speed limits in built up areas and key locations i.e. schools or accident hotspots, but A and B major artery roads surely not. How can having more cars on the road be part of the decarbonisation programme. We seem to blundering along from one cxxk up to another. Ill struggle to vote Labour at the next elections I'm afraid to say, and I'd like to see an opinion poll on that too!

This is extremely inaccurate, you hand pick a select few people. Over 25% of the Welsh population that are of voting age and driving age have signed a petition against this. This does not include people not on social media. You have made a mockery of yourself, the Welsh government and the Senedd. I think you are about to find out how 'acccurate' your vote was. I will eat my words if this 20mph remains and yourself with Mark Drakeford remain in your positions.

Whilst the policy has great merits, it has not been explained very well. what there has been feels far too late - allowing the naysayers to take up the airspace. This is about changing behaviours and so far what I've seen isn't very 'clever'. I do fear unless you up your communications game (in the broadest sense of the word, not just broadcasting), Labour will suffer the consequences at the ballot box in Wales. Some reflection might serve well in the long run.

20mph is another example of Wales leading the way. However.....its going to take an awful lot of getting used to. And it could have been better organised, with info/signage on the roads (not just on twitter and doormats). I genuinely have no idea what the speed limit is on any giving road now (apart from the motorway/dual carriageways).

Lee Waters MS if a street still has a 30mph sign on it but has streetlights and houses lining the street, should I assume the council haven’t changed it yet and it’s 20mph or is it still 30? Doesn’t seem like many signs have been updated where I am.

The government are the CEO and the people are the board. I guess the CEO will find out if the board are happy with their CEO’s management and leadership at the next election 👍🏼 good luck

"This goes to show that petitions and social media comments are not representative" As opposed to you publishing this based on an opinion poll of just over 1100 people....whilst the population of Wales is in excess of 3 MILLION and claiming its representative!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 There's an sense of irony in there somewhere 🤣🙄

This is not representative of people of wales as a petition with nearly 300,000 demonstrates.
