The Cardiac Cycle with EKG Insights Our hearts beat relentlessly, but have you ever wondered what goes on inside this incredible organ? 🤔 Join me on a journey through the phases of the cardiac cycle, and let's dive into the world of EKG (Electrocardiogram) to gain deeper insights into its rhythms! 🚀 1️⃣ Atrial Contraction (Atrial Systole): The cycle begins with the atria contracting, pushing blood into the ventricles. This phase is represented by the P-wave on the EKG, marking the depolarization of the atria. 💥💘 2️⃣ Ventricular Contraction (Ventricular Systole): Next, the ventricles contract, forcing blood into the pulmonary artery and aorta. This is when the QRS complex on the EKG occurs, signifying ventricular depolarization. 🎵💪 3️⃣ Isovolumetric Relaxation: After the ventricles empty, they briefly relax, but all valves remain closed. The EKG remains flat during this momentary pause, reflecting electrical quiescence. 🛑🕒 4️⃣ Atrial Filling (Atrial Diastole): As the ventricles relax, the atria fill with blood from the veins. The EKG continues to show electrical calmness. 🔄❤️ 5️⃣ Ventricular Filling (Ventricular Diastole): The final phase sees the ventricles passively filling with blood from the atria, preparing for the next contraction. This is often represented by the T-wave on the EKG, signifying ventricular repolarization. ⏳🌊 Understanding these phases, coupled with insights from the EKG, helps us appreciate the intricate dance of the heart's electrical and mechanical activities that keep life flowing. 🩺🌟 . . .
