In the wake of the yesterday’s shooting at Charles University in Prague, the Unibroad community is overwhelmed with sorrow and grief. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the entire university community affected by this senseless act of violence. It is important to acknowledge that such violence is not isolated to one location. University campuses are meant to be spaces of learning, growth and community. The tragedy at Charles University serves as a painful reminder of the vulnerability we face in environments that should be sanctuaries of knowledge and progress. Such incidents not only shatter lives but also leave lasting scars on the collective psyche of a community. The incident at Charles University serves as a wake-up call for all of us in the education sector. We must prioritize and invest in comprehensive safety measures to ensure the protection of our students and colleagues. It's imperative that we work collaboratively with security experts, law enforcement, and policymakers to create robust strategies that address the unique challenges universities face. Let us use this tragic event as a catalyst for change. By fostering an open dialogue about campus safety, advocating for mental health resources, and implementing proactive measures, we can collectively strive to create environments where everyone feels secure pursuing knowledge. Our thoughts are with Charles University, and our commitment to the safety and well-being of students globally has never been stronger. "Earlier this year, the AAUP established a special committee to review the apparent pattern of politically, racially, and ideologically motivated attacks on public higher education in Florida. In May 2023, the committee released this preliminary report concluding that academic freedom, tenure, and shared governance in Florida’s public colleges and universities currently face a politically and ideologically driven assault unparalleled in US history. Some might suggest that challenging the adoption of TEKS on the grounds that it promoted a neo-Confederate viewpoint for the origins of the Civil War would be unsuccessful. The state of jurisprudence suggests that courts would be reluctant to scrutinize such content. But curricular standards founded on a racist historiography of the Civil War and Antebellum Period is discriminatory and does not provide an equal educational opportunity to all students. A resurgence of education-related caselaw focused on systemic  disparity in public schools suggests that the time is ripe for a reimagining of the role education plays in preparing students for life as active citizens. 

Friends, according to Fortune magazine, overall undergraduate enrollment experienced the steepest rate of decline on record from 2019 to 2022, and it has only worsened since then. There are several explanations, but one cause is entirely self-imposed: most universities and colleges have now replaced education with ideology, subverting the search for truth with political indoctrination.
