Today, April 25th, marks World Malaria Day, a day set aside globally to raise awareness about malaria, a life-threatening disease. According to the World Malaria Report of 2023, malaria caused over half a million deaths in 2022. Malawi joins the rest of the world in commemorating this day. The country has recorded approximately 7 million cases of Malaria annually. However, there is a tremendous amount of progress in eliminating this disease, and Malawi is among 12 African countries that received the first-ever doses of the malaria vaccine. Let us join frontline health workers to continue raising awareness about malaria and work towards its elimination. Together we can! #WorldMalariaDay #EndMalaria #Malaria2030Elimination

Last week I was privileged to attend a 4 day long intensive PSEA investigations training with OSACO Group Limited. As a PSEA Focal Point for the Communications section at UNICEF Malawi Country Office, the training enhanced my skills and knowledge, improved capacity to conduct fair and thorough investigations in line with global standards and best practices. It also enhanced the much needed accountability and protection of vulnerable groups. Certainly there is always need for continuous improvement and learning in this regard. All in all, I believe this training enables individuals and organizations to effectively prevent and respond to sexual exploitation and abuse, promoting a safer and more accountable environment.
