We are one year into our moonshot goal to cut gun-related deaths between police and the public by 50% before 2033.  Recently we announced our next giant leap in support of this goal, the Axon Public Safety Gun Fatality Database. The goal of the database is to provide an impartial view of relevant information available on each incident, so that law enforcement, government and community leaders, members of the private sector, academia, media, and the general public can reference and use the database. Colorado HB23-1230 is raising serious concerns among law-abiding gun owners. This isn't just about safety; it's a direct hit on our rights to self-defense. The distinction between an assault weapon and a semi-automatic weapon, a differentiation many politicians seem unable to make, underscores a lack of understanding about firearms, their usage, and safety measures. This gap in knowledge raises questions about the basis of such legislative proposals. Moreover, this bill risks leaving law-abiding individuals more exposed to harm by restricting their access to firearms for protection, while criminals—by definition not deterred by laws—will remain unaffected. A more effective approach to bolstering public safety would involve stringent enforcement of existing laws, holding perpetrators of violent crimes accountable, and implementing robust, armed security measures in vulnerable places like schools. Making a genuine difference requires commitment and action that align with the realities of crime prevention and public safety, not just legislative gestures. #SecondAmendment #SelfDefense #PublicSafety #ArmedSecurity
