1. Assess your Position: Even after a career break of 6 months or 3 years. You need to assess yourself and think about how a career gap has affected your skills and knowledge? Are you still competitive enough to clear the interviews?

2. Plan for the Re-joining: Carefully research about the industry you want to join. Accordingly, update yourself with industry news and the latest trends happening in that field.

3. Sharpen your Skills: You can take up online courses, both free and paid to sharpen your skills. Many platforms like Coursera, Udemy providing the courses ranging from IT to Finance to Electronics.

4. Update CV and Cover Letter: You can take your career break as an opportunity to impress your employer with the new skills you have learned during your career break. Emphasize your past success and not just solely focus on job role.

5. Network: Once you decide to restart your career, make sure to reach out to all your contacts including previous colleagues, clients, friends and family. They might know about an opportunity or be able to guide you in the right direction.
