This Australian native grows up to 6m tall with a Mallee habit or up to 13m as a tree forming a lignotuber, endemic to inland Australia, common on rocky hills in the central and SW part of central Australia, ranges in the NT and more rarely in the far NE SA.
 
The bark is smooth throughout, mottled grey, white, pinkish and shades of brown, juvenile foliage is narrowly to broadly lanceolate 7 - 10cm long x 1 - 4cm wide and are green to blue green in colour, the adult foliage is linear to narrowly lanceolate 7 - 19cm long x 0.9 - 2.6cm wide and are dull blue green to grey green or green.  
 
The flower buds occur in clusters of 7 - 11 and open up to reveal white flowers throughout the year.
 
This species is frost and drought tolerant.
