Fifteen days spent entirely in Catalan. This is the objective of the Catalan Language University Campus that is taking place for the 22nd time this year with a programme including thirty hours of language classes given by specialist teachers and fifteen hours spent on cultural aspects of Catalan-speaking countries, as well as a wide range of cultural and leisure activities such as trips, visits to historic monuments and exploration of natural areas such as the Costa Brava and the Andorran Pyrenees.
Just some of the activities in Girona are a visit to the Croscat volcano, a workshop about gloses (a type of improvised singing particular to the Catalan countries), a conference about Mercè Rodoreda and an urban escape room named ‘El secret de Dalí’ (Dalí’s Secret). In Andorra, participants will be able to attend ‘Festa’, a special show given by the Cirque du Soleil, visit the Sant Miquel d’Engolasters church and take part in a literary discussion about legends, beliefs, witchcraft and magic, as well as nocturnal visits. As part of the programme, the two locations will host around thirty students who will have the possibility of integrating themselves into the nature and social fabric of Catalonia and Andorra.
This year, the programme will host participants from 17 different countries: Argentina, Canada, Chile, Cuba, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The Campus is part of the programme of linguistic summer stays aimed at students of Catalan Studies belonging to the XarxaLlull. More than a thousand people from around the world have been able to enjoy linguistic and cultural stays in Andorra, Catalonia, the Balearic Irelands and the Valencian Community since the foundation of the programme in 2002.
