Rangitoto Island

Auckland’s most iconic island, with its distinctive symmetrical cone and superb location just off the coast, Rangitoto is a short scenic ferry ride across the harbour from downtown Auckland. Perfect for day trips, it is the youngest and largest volcano in the Auckland volcano field.

Guided tours on the 4WD road train are available, or walk up to the summit on foot which is approximately an hour each way, stopping to take in the black lava caves on the way up. When you’re at the summit, the views are absolutely spectacular – with everything from the Hauraki Gulf to the Waitakere Ranges and the Hunua Ranges.

If you prefer the water, try out a night kayak for an unforgettable sunset before paddling back under the stars.

LyLo Auckland is located only 5 minutes away from the ferry. Book a pod or private room here and get your Auckland adventure underway.
