Amazing - there is simply no other word for it. The Murrindindi Scenic Reserve with the beautiful Murrindindi River and the Wilhelmina Falls are incredible.
This bushland is at the northern point of the Toolangi State Forest and is a great space to explore. You can day trip here and picnic in the day visitors area. Swim in the cool and refreshing Murrindindi River. Camp at one of the many camping areas. Or go for a hike along many of the trails.
If you and the tribe are up for it, take a hike up into the hills and see the spectacular Wilhelmina Falls. This 75m waterfall flows down an almost sheer granite rock, where it pools before heading down further into the bush below. You can climb the stairs all the way to the top, but the most spectacular views is via the track on the left, after the first flight of stairs.
The walk up here is a HIKE. It is a very steep and rocky walk, skinny in parts and not a track you would want to take in the wet. We departed for the hike from the SEC camping ground, but you can also leave from the Water Gage camp site, which the signs say is a 6km return walk. It took us 2 hours all up and although it was tough going, with plenty of hand holding to help the 4 year old get up and then down the track safely, the reward at the top was worth it. Take water and sunscreen, and a change of clothes so you can have a paddle in the river back at the camping grounds before heading home.

Travel north along the Melba Highway to the intersection of Murrindindi Road, just before Devlins Bridge. Turn right and drive 9km to the Reserve.
