The first Sunday of the 2023 NFL season is underway and as we saw in the opening game the differences between teams can be closer than expected.

The Detroit Lions pulled off the upset by beating the Kansas City Chiefs 21-20 at Arrowhead.

It was a result that could hurt some Fantasy Football managers, especially those who were counting on Travis Kelce, out due to injury or Patrick Mahomes, who despite adding two touchdowns, suffered an interception and closed the game with 226 yards through the air and 45 on the ground.

That's not to mention Kadarius Toney with a disastrous performance with everything he released to end with a one-yard reception, let alone a one-yard reception on his only carry attempt.

Fantasy managers should be clear on their strategies and with running backs being one of the most attractive positions, a recommendation to draft in one of the last picks is Philadelphia Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell.

The Eagles make their Week 1 debut at the home of the New England Patriots and enter as a contender after losing the last Super Bowl to the Chiefs.

The Eagles' three running backs

Heading into Fantasy, a good bet is to go for Gainwell, despite the fact that he will compete with the Eagles' other running backs D'Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny.

In the preseason Philadelphia coach Nick Sirianni gave Gainwell the majority of the carries, which could be a good sign to consider for your Fantasy team, although if you look at the last two seasons, Swift has had more consistency with a more talented showing to support the Jalen Hurts-led offense.

If you take into account what happened in training camp, Gainwell is expected to be an option in the Eagles offense and is a good move to have as part of the Fantasy roster.

With the current price tag he may at this point in the draft be a sensible pick, having an ADP60, as the 195th overall pick.
