1996—The Eagles open their first preseason camp at Lehigh University. The team holds its summer camps in Bethlehem through 2012 before deciding to use its own training facilities in Philadelphia for preseason workouts.

1994—Central Catholic graduate Eddie McCaffrey becomes a free agent after three years with the New York Giants when the NFL team rescinds their tendered offer to him after re-signing Mark Jackson, whom they had released earlier in the summer in a salary cap move. He later signs with the San Francisco 49ers.
