Skeleton Medical Illustrations
The human skeleton is a remarkable structure, and will form the basis for many a medical drawing. It is after all the scaffold of the human body that performs many functions and provides the framework which supports the body and maintains its shape.
As a studio we have a full size skeleton that we can refer to for reference as often we need to draw the bony anatomy first before any soft tissue and muscle is added. If you require any medical illustrations then we have experience and library of samples we can use to help you and your project.
The anatomy of the skeleton structure is quite remarkable. The pelvis skeletal anatomy for example along with its and associated ligaments and muscles provide a floor for the pelvic structures. Without the skeletal ribs, costal cartilages, and the intercostal muscles the heart would be unprotected by the skeleton and prone to collapse. The skeleton also protects organs such as the brain via the skull and the vertebrae protect the spinal cord.
The bones of the skeleton also produce blood cell production taking place in the red blood cells bone marrow. The majority of red blood cells, platelets, and most of the white blood cells are formed in the red marrow. Red blood cells are produced by cores of bone marrow in the heads of long bones in a process known as hematopoiesis.
As a support structure the skeleton is enabled to move through joints and powered by the skeletal muscles which are attached to the skeleton at various and specific points.
