Haltungsinformationen

(Linnaeus) Weber & Mohr, 1805

Der Lappentang ist eine essbare Rotalge, die nach der Trocknung verspeist werden kann und viele Vitamine und Mineralstoffe enthält.

Die dunkel purpurrote bis bräunlich rote Alge haftet mit ihrem scheibenförmigen Haftorgan auf Steinen und anderen Algen in ruhigen und mäßig wellenexponierten Standorten bis in eine Tiefe von etwa 20 Metern.

Palmaria palmata hat eine lederige-hautartige Struktur und einen sehr kurzen Stiel.

Beschreibung der Alge (nach Prof. Wolfram Braune):
"Thallus aufrecht, einzeln oder mehrere Fronds mit einer gemeinsamen Haftscheibe; blattartig flach, sich allmählich keilförmig nach oben verbreiternd, gabelig oder handförmig in bandförmig bis länglich ovale Abschnitte aufgeteilt; Ränder glatt oder häufig mit Auswüchsen von ähnlicher Gestalt wie das Primärblatt..."
