Green Antelopehorn Seeds, Asclepias viridis. Hand collected, dried and cleaned. Cold stratification may  increase germination rates on fresher seeds.  Soak seeds 24-48 hrs. in warm water then surface sow in Spring when the ground has warmed above 60 degrees and all danger of frost has passed.  Seeds can also be started inside 6-8 weeks prior to planting outside when the ground has warmed.

Description

Asclepias viridis commonly called Green Antelopehorn, Green Milkweed, or Spider Milkweed.  Southeastern US and Mexico native. It is a perennial plant that tends to be short growing only 12-18″ tall. Multiple stems often emerge from the root ball.  Clustered greenish-yellow flowers with maroon highlights sit on top of the leaning stem.  It blooms from April through June.   Habitat: Dry areas, prairies, pastures, glades, ditches, disturbed ground, limestone soils.  Roots: Taproot.   Toxicity: Low. Maintenance: Low.
