The X10 was Sony Ericsson's first Android phone and used the Android Donut, version 1.6 version of the operating system (OS). Sony Ericsson implemented its own "UX Platform" which was a user interface layer on top of the Android OS. In the press release announcing the product, Sony Ericsson stated that it had created a unique user experience: "by combining best-in-class entertainment features with signature applications, unrivalled integration of social media services and a rich graphical user interface." The company went on to describe the Xperia X10 as "the first mobile phone to truly humanise the way people interact with their phones." Two "signature applications"  on the phone were Mediascape and Timescape. Timescape allowed users to manage social media feeds such as Facebook and Twitter and other content including photos, emails and texts. Mediascape aggregated music, photos and videos accessing content on the phone, YouTube and Sony’s PlayNow service. The X10 had a 262,144 colour four-inch TFT touchscreen and featured an 8.1-megapixel camera with up to 16x digital zoom. Sony Ericsson also included an 8GB microSD memory card. It used a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It came in two colours: "Sensuous Black" and "Luster White".
