canyon gooseberry
Found in moist or marshy areas growing with willows as well as dry hillsides, this spiny, deciduous gooseberry gets 5 to 6 feet round. Small white or pink flowers followed by red berries enjoyed by wildlife. It can be grown in sun or part shade and can handle wet conditions with good drainage, good under Oaks. Bay Area native.
